Prices are generally high, but the range of goods available is excellent. Food is not cheap but most things are available and good quality. For those who are self-catering, or just looking for picnic material, the supermarkets on the west and south coasts are excellent and several of them organize transport for shopping trips. Fresh fruit and vegetables usually come from Trinidad, Venezuela or other neighbouring countries. There is a good selection in the supermarkets or there are market stalls dotted around the island selling at similar prices. Street vendors are very persistent but generally friendly even when you refuse their wares. Fish can be bought fresh from the fish market at Oistins. Rum, beer, wine and other alcoholic beverages are cheapest in the supermarkets where there is a wide choice with frequent special offers,. However, for a better, or more upmarket, selection try Wine World in Rockley and on the Spring Garden Highway.
