Kick off your shoes, put on your swimsuit and head for the sand. The south coast caters for the package holiday end of the market, with lots of mid-range, mid-quality hotels packed in along the western end in districts with the charming English names of Hastings, Worthing and Dover. The advantage of the south coast is that it is close to the airport, has the better beaches, with wider expanses of sand and gently sloping entry to the sea. It is popular with a younger crowd and there is lots of night-time action. Families with young children and teenagers find plenty to do, by day and by night, and it is easy to get around the island for excursions when you’ve had enough of sun, sea and sand.
