The weather in Berlin never matters; year-round it is easy to switch from indoors to outdoors and Berlin does not experience extremes of weather. When it is warm and sunny, take a long boat trip to Potsdam or to Köpenick. When it is cold and icy, take to your skates at the lakes around Grunewald. Hotel prices in Berlin work out very well for the tourist. They drop considerably at weekends, in July and August and at Christmas/New Year. There are a few annual trade fairs which you may want to avoid, since hotels and hostels both get full then. Check the dates of these fairs on http://www. berlin-tourism.de before making any plans.
