Zodiakos, C Euskal Herria s/n (corner of Telletxe), T 944-604059. Metro: Algorta. This squiggly bar in the heart of Getxo is one of the areas best, with a terrace, pintxos, and service with a smile. Lezika, Cuevas de Santamamiñe, Kortezubi, T 94-6252975. The whole of Vizcaya seems to descend on the beer garden here at weekends with kids and dogs in tow; the restaurant is better value than the meagre raciones on offer at the bar. Parra Taberna, Elorrio. A peaceful bar with tables on the main square and a beautiful glass and stone interior. Oñati/Arantzazu Arkupe, Plaza del los Fueros 9, T 943-781699. A good bar/ restaurant on Oñatis main square, with a variety of cheap raciones and platos, and a focus of the early evening, outdoor drinking scene. Asador Bodegon, Kepa Deuna 1, Mundaka, T 94-6876353. Mundakas best restaurant, despite a slight air of we know what the tourists want. Meat and, especially fresh fish are grilled to perfection over the coals. Try the home-made patxarán, a liqueur made from sloe berries. Gaztelu Begi, Carretera San Pelaio 86, between Bakio and Bermeo, T 94-6194924. This roadside hotel above San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, is a good spot for a meal or a drink while waiting for the bus. Good views, and reasonable fish at about 15. Batzokia, on Mundakas main square. The 9.90 menú del día can be a good opportunity to try the local catch at a discount.
