HypeClub, via Santa Margherita, 7/2, T 340-3346980. 2230-0300. Closed Sun. Entrance fee. Recent renovation has turned this popular venue into the hottest club in town. Mondays see cheap drinks for students and foreigners, Tuesdays are rock-nights with 80's classics, and Fridays are for funksters with the Sole Shaker parties: well-known Mellow Yellow DJs spinning the latest Italian grooves.

Cassero (ex Salara), via Don Minzoni, T 051-649 44161. http://www.cassero.it From 2300. This male gay club has moved underground to the docks and vaults where the city's salt supply used to be unloaded and stored. Currently the coolest cavern in town for all persuasions, serving up a changing mix of house, fusion, and lounge funk. If only for its intriguing architecture and history the place demands to be checked out. With café, bookshop and beautiful roof garden plus views.

Link, via Fioravanti 14. 10 minutes on foot behind the train station. http://www.linkproject.org T 051-370971. 0000 – early hours. Free except for specific gigs and big International DJs. Ultra- funky centro sociale in a converted multi-storey carpark with futuristic bar upstairs and enormous dance floor downstairs. Performance art and live bands moving to techno later.

Millennium, via Riva Reno, 77a. Fun, dark venue hosting art shows and diverse live music from French accordion players to little-known UK funk DJs. Happy hour before 2130.

Spazio alato, via Lame 2, T 051-227940. Nightclub and exhibition space hybrid with one-off events.
