RRR Emily’s, Clock Tower centre, T 021-4211133. 1200-1430, 1830-late. The old Woodstock favourite recently moved to the top floor of the new Clock Tower centre. Very smart restaurant serving excellent French-style cuisine, great views from balcony overlooking the Waterfront, polite service, popular, book.

RR Aldos, ground floor, Victoria Wharf, T 021-4217846. Mon-Sat 1200-1400, 1800-late. One of the better Italian restaurants in town, reflected in the imaginative range of dishes on offer.

RR Arlindos, ground floor, Victoria Wharf. Mouth-watering selection of game and seafood dishes, excellent calamari, reasonable wines, polite and attentive service, outside terrace gets a bit crowded. Recommended.

RR Cape Town Fish Market, ground floor, Victoria Wharf, T 021-4135977. 1200-2300. Popular fish restaurant, but the reason to come here is the revolving sushi bar, serving excellent sushi and sashimi. Dishes on offer are limited but very fresh and good value.

RR Cantina Tequila, Quay 5, Victoria Wharf, T 021-4190207. 1000-late. Full range of Mexican dishes, good cocktails, live music Wednesday-Sunday, outside terrace, touristy, indifferent service and erratic food.

RR Den Anker, Pierhead, T 021-4190249. 1100-2300. Popular Belgian (Flemish) restaurant and bar, continental feel, high ceiling flying the various duchy flags, newspaper plastered pillars, airy leafy bar, views across Alfred Basin of Table Mountain, civilized atmosphere. Plenty of Belgian dishes to sample plus an amazing selection of imported bottle beers.

RR The Edge, Pierhead, T 021-4212583. 1200-late. Terrace tables on a first-come basis, spicy mix of Cape cuisine with an emphasis on seafood dishes, a good mix of South African meals.

RR Hildebrand, Pierhead, T 021-4253385. 1100-2300. Well-established Italian seafood place, excellent pasta, good reputation, touristy given the location.

RR Mortons on the Wharf, upstairs, Victoria Wharf, T 021-4183633. 1200-1500, 1800-late. A busy New Orleans-style restaurant and bar, Creole fish dishes or spicy Cajun country food, a playful and fun evening with live music, Jazz, Mardi Gras and Blues, check out the Sunday Jazz brunch.
