R Quay Four, T 021-4192008. 1100-late. Pleasant bar-restaurant set on a shady deck overlooking the harbour. Very popular for seafood lunches served in individual frying pans, and a good spot for drinks at sundown or an evening meal.

RRR Buena Vista Social Café, Main Rd, Green Point, T 021- 4330611. 1200-late. Cuban-themed bar and restaurant. Great decor, trendy Cuban photography, plush chairs to lounge in or breezy balcony overlooking Main Rd. Live Latin music at weekends, very fashionable, excellent but pricey food.

RRR Mr Chan, 178a Main Rd, Sea Point, T 021-4392239. 1200-1500, 1800-2200. Smart upmarket restaurant serving Pekingese, Cantonese and Szechuan meals. Expensive but some top-quality dishes. Recommended for a treat.

RRR Blues, Victoria Rd, Camps Bay, T 021-4382040. 1200-2200. Popular and well-known seafood place with superb views, Californian-style menu served to a beautiful crowd. Good, stylish food, although you pay for the restaurant’s reputation.

RRR The Codfather, corner Geneva Drive and The Drive, Camps Bay, T 021-4380782. 1200-1600, 1900-2300. One of the best seafood restaurants in Cape Town, stylish laid-back place offering a range of superbly fresh seafood. No menu – the waiter takes you to a counter and you pick and choose whatever you like the look of. Also has an excellent sushi bar. Highly recommended.

RRR The Restaurant, 51a Somerset Rd, Green Point, T 021- 4192921. Mon-Sat 1800-2300. One of Cape Town’s finest, serving superb seafood and meat dishes in a stylish and understated setting. Brilliant desserts and attentive service. Very popular so booking essential.

RR Camel Rock, Scarborough, T 021-7801122. 1200-1700, 1900-2300. A Mediterranean-style seafood restaurant. Sit out on the balcony and enjoy the oysters or excellent calamari, bring your own wines, good stop for lunches. Recommended.
