Hermanus Whale Festival takes place during the last week of the month and marks the beginning of calving season of Southern Right Whales. This is in essence a community festival but attracts visitors from all around the Cape. The festivities kick off with an open-air concert at the Old Harbour, and continue with theatre, comedy, live music and sporting events (including a mini-marathon) held throughout the week.
