The day could begin by looking around Rådhuspladsen and climbing the tower of the town hall for an aerial reconnaissance of the city. Shoppers might want to head straight for the pedestrianized shopping street Strøget, the parallel Vestergade and adjoining streets. Strøget terminates at Kongens Nytorv and on the other side of this illustrious square lie Nyhavn canal and a variety of cafés and restaurants, ideal for an indoor or al fresco smørrebrød lunch. Alternatively, an early breakfast would allow time to be outside the Nationalmuseet (National Museum) for opening time at 1000. An afternoon could be spent exploring Slotsholmen, perhaps resting in the charming Bibliotekshaven before crossing the road to the Black Diamond and a drink in Øieblikket. Try to find time in the evening to visit Christiania, where there are also restaurants.
