The first day could be spent as above, with the next day starting by hopping on a bus or train to Nørrebro for a choice between clothes shopping or art galleries. The shopping is on the north side of the three lakes, especially along Blågårdsgade, the second street on your left off Nørrebrogade after crossing the bridge. A picnic in Assistens Kirkegård or lunch in one of the stylish pavement cafés in and around Sankt Hans Torv. An alternative mornings activity could be a visit to Denmarks national gallery, Statens Museum for Kunst, followed by a short walk to the Den Hirschsprungske Samling, a gallery of superb Danish art. Christiania could be explored in an afternoon. Before entering the free city, a visit to Vor Frelsers Kirke and a climb up the external staircase of the spiral tower would help reacquaint yourself with the geography of the city and its skyline. For dinner reserve a seat at the table in Alberto K at the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel and, on the strength of it, ask to be shown the original Jacobsen-designed room 606. If the weekend is a long one, the modern art gallery of Louisiana is a major attraction, but so, too, is the small town of Helsingør. Another inland town competing for your time is Roskilde with its cathedral, a world heritage site, and the Viking Ship Museum.
