Dotted Line

Kruts Karport, Øster Farimagsgade 12, T 35268638. French-inspired bar serving foreign beers, Absinth (few Danish bars do) and Denmarks biggest selection of speciality whisky (special whisky nights hosted during winter months).

Mexi Bar, Elmegade 27, T 35377766. Crass but fun Mexican themed bar. Grass hut entrance, fairy lights on mass and illuminated stars adorn the ceiling. Cut-cost cocktails lead to a rowdy party atmosphere into the early hours.

Morgans, Elmegade 15, T 35352672. Low-key American dineresque bar complete with cushioned red leatherette benches and a pink ambient backlight. Good range of smoothies, cocktails and bar food. Eclectic, non-intrusive lounge music permits conversation.

Pavillionen i Fælledparken, Borgmester Jensens Allé 45, T 35387393. Seasonal outdoor picnic-style seating, heating and bar points in leafy park surroundings centred around a pavilion dancefloor filled with pop and happy house. Predatory crowd.

Pussy Galore’s Flying Circus, Sankt Hans Torv 30, T 35245300. Until 0200 daily. Quintessential ’less is more’ Danish design (Jacobsen chairs throughout) and a large selection of reasonably-priced spirits. Attracts stylish urbanites who come to relax and take it easy. Conducive to striking-up conversation (and more) with interesting locals who have their finger on the pulse.

Sebastopol, Sankt Hans Torv 32, T 35363002. Mon-Wed 0800-0100, Thu-Sat 0800-0200, Sun 0800-0100. Parisian elegance and charm. Tables spill onto the square in summer months when trendy, young professional flock to drink until the early hours following superb gastronomic delights served up earlier in the evening. Popular meeting point for Rust nightclubbers at weekends, which is just around the corner.

Stereo Bar Linnesgade 16A, T 33136113. Wed-Sat 2000-0300. Subdued 60s and 70s decor and lighting and a relaxed but stylish loungey clientele put Stereo bar firmly on the must-go map. Funky easy listening and an impressive range of exotic cocktails and tipples dominate the main bar, while the intimate cellar club is an eclectic sound station inhabited by pretty good Denmark DJs who deliver anything from house, trip hop, drum and bass and electronic sets that are usually edgy and fresh.
