Hygee is the karma late at night when jazz music is playing and the candles come out to cast light around the calm, bare wood decor. The stereotype of a modern Copenhagen café, with Arne Jacobsen chairs, minimalist decor and heavily accented fusion food. Similar in style to Sebastopol (see below) with indoor and outdoor tables, and a regular crowd of chic creative types, and with the added punch of the Pussy Galore cocktail (vodka, jordbærlikør, brut and Cinzano). A brasserie-style hangout for wannabes, especially in summer when a tendency to pose lightens up the scene around the outdoor tables, but always good for a bite to eat and a bottle of Singha or Newcastle Brown. A reliable choice of wines, brunch, omelettes, salads, sandwiches, desserts, meals from 80kr and plat du jour around 100kr. K Shark House Deli, Blågårdsgade 3, T 35355135. Mon-Fri 1100-2100, Sat 1100-1900. Great for a quick meal in Nørrebro, day or night – on your left shortly after turning into Blågårdsgade off Nørrebrogade. The sandwiches, from a little over 30kr to nearly 50kr, are some of the munchiest anywhere in the city. The Shark House Chili for 60kr is another firm favourite. K Månefiskeren, Fremtidsskoven, Christiania. Tue-Sun 1000-0100. Hard to miss this colourful-looking café in the heart of Christiania, look for a man on the moon figure with a fishing rod and a joint. Snooker tables, chessboards and spliffs. Light meals, good for a breakfast or cake and sandwiches any time. Note the signs, warning visitors to beware of pickpockets.
