Barfly & Britannia, Løvstræde 4, T 33148969. Wed-Thu 2200- 0500, Fri 2100-0500, Sat 2100-0600. An entertain- ment temple over six levels. The groundfloor bar and basement disco are both tuned into a 70s, 80s and 90s soundtrack to cater for a 30-something crowd. Dance, light techno and britpop are the flavour of the third-floor club which attracts a younger crowd.

Copenhagen Jazzhouse, Niels Hemmingsens Gade 10, T 33932616. Thu-Sat 2400-0500. 60kr (free Thu). Post-concert club nights for a fresh-faced crowd who revel and flirt to the eclectic latin, house, acid jazz, oldschool-disco, bossa nova, R&B and soul sets from popular residential DJs. Not particularly cool, but very fun.

IN, Nørregade 1, T 33117478. Thu 2300-0600, Fri 2300-0800, Sat 2300-1000. 50-150kr. Debauched creche for young crowd into banging (Euro)house and (Euro)trance. Dubious entrance policies include drink as much draught beer, wine and champagne (fizzy wine) for a very small blanket fee and ’girls go cheaper’ to entice the boys. Good light/laser shows. Attracts big-name live acts, such as Sash and Ian Van Dahl.

Level CPH, Skindergade 45-47, T 33132625. Fri-Sat 2300-0500. 60 Kr. Lush lighting, stylish chillout rooms and vibrant dance areas. An appreciative crowd soak up predominately house sounds. Welcomes guest DJs from international clubland every weekend. Also has some good Danish resident DJs. Look out for special club nights.

Sabor Latino, Vester Voldgade 85, T 33119766. Thu 2100-0300, Fri-Sat 2100-0500. Salsa club offering lessons at 2200-2300 before the disco kicks off at 2400. Energetic Latinos brush-up their moves among a diverse enthusiastic Danish crowd. Authentic and fun. Good-priced cocktails.

Q House of Dance, Axeltorv 5, T 33111915. Fri-Sat 2300-0600. Formerly Daddy’s, this basement club claims to be the first to have imported disco to Denmark. Commercial dance for a young, gregarious and often leery crowd. Four bars, including a cocktail bar and shot bar. TV monitors link the male and female toilets (unbelievably tacky, but true) and add to the sharking atmosphere.

Cavi, Lille Kongensgade 16, T 33112020. Thu-Fri 2300-0500, Sat 2300-0600. 50Kr Thu-Fri, 100kr Sat (free for women all nights). R&B, two step, commercial house and hip hop club with a sociable mixed crowd. Bellowing sheets hang from the ceilings amidst candlelit tables where you can chat and get intimate during a break from the lively dancefloor. The outdoor terrace with its own bar.

Vega, Enghavevej 40, T 33257011. Fri-Sat 1100-0500 plus special nights. A renovated 50s trade union building is home to one of the most exciting and cool clubbing experience in Copenhagen. Ever-changing club nights spanning anything from electronic to deep house. They are as serious about cutting-edge music and sound systems as they are about cool Scandinavian interior design. Clientele are aspirational but inoffensive.

Park, Østerbrogade 79, T 35 42 62 48. Thu-Sat 2300-0500. Formerly the function rooms of the national stadium (Parken), this 2,000 capacity, three-dancefloor club offering pulls in a loyal, party-going crowd. Ostentatious decor includes chandeliers hanging from 1920s high ceilings and mirrored walls and ceilings. Mainstream disco, pop and happy house. Live music Sun-Wed in the cosy ground floor Kitty Club. Expect big queues at the weekend.
