Public transport tickets cover buses, S-Tog trains and the metro within designated zonal areas. The basic ticket costs 14kr and covers travel within any two zones which in central Copenhagen covers all the sights and places of interest and allows for transfers between buses, trains and metro for up to one hour. Tickets and maps showing the zones are available from machines or ticket offices in train stations and from bus drivers.
Discount clip cards (klippekort) covering 10 journeys, available in stations but not from bus drivers, work out cheaper than individual tickets. You punch the card in a yellow card-clipping machine on a bus, station or local train. A two-zone card costs 80kr and by clipping the card more than once you can travel in more zones than the card allows. A 24-hour ticket, purchased at bus and train stations, gives unlimited travel by bus and train through all the zones and costs 85kr. It has to be clipped in the yellow machines at the first station or bus you use.
