This is as good as you will get in Copen- hagen for these prices and the breakfast buffet is not a skimpy one. The bedrooms are small, though, in this gay-friendly hotel. If you don’t mind a hotel with a bourgeois tone, the Marienlyst is worth checking out on the internet for the various short-stay packages available. Bus no 6 takes you straight through to Charlottenlund and stops next to this lovely campsite in the middle of the beach, 6 km from the city centre. Utilizing a disused, 19th-century fort, this smart camping ground has modern facilities, though no cabins or tents for hire. While the regular rate for singles/doubles is 1095/ 1295kr, a stay becomes a more viable proposition when the discounted rate of 850/950kr is available, including breakfast. A three-star camping ground with views of the fjord and the town. A shop, cabins for hire, and a sandy beach with a bathing jetty. G Roskilde Vandrerhjem, Vindeboder, Roskilde, T 46352184 , F 46326690 , http://www.danhostel.dk/roskilde A hostel, next to the Viking Ship Museum, that with some of the 40 rooms looking out to the fjord can be a cool place for an overnight stay. Unless booked in with a pass card, the hostel only opens between 0800 and 1200 and 1600 to 2200. Always full at festival time, there are private rooms as well as dorm beds, kitchen and TV lounge.
