May Day (1st) is celebrated across the city with colourful marches and brass bands threading their way from different starting points to a common destination in Fælled Park, where food, drink and music are the order of the day. Copenhagens Beer Festival (second weekend in May, 75kr) is a more serious (and sober) affair than you might expect. This is beer drinking as an art form and members Danish Beer Enthusiasts will teach you how to recognize that perfect brew. Big names like Carlsberg and Tuborg alongside British contributors like Greene King, Hall & Woodhouse, plus less familiar microbrews. There is no fixed venue and anyone interested in advance information should contact Stine Lolk at sl@tivoli.dk Latin American Festival (date varies from year to year, T 33152002) is every bit as vibrant an affair as you would wish it to be. Music from Cuba and Brazil, lessons in salsa, samba and tango, food from the Caribbean and Latin America. Takes place in the city centre in the form of street parades with different bars and cafés. Well worth the 60kr admission.
