KKK La Crevette, Vesterbrogade 3 (Tivoli), T 33146003. 19 Apr- 22 Sep, 15 Nov-22 Dec 1200-2400. Top-drawer fish restaurant in Tivoli (adjoining Brasserie N, see below), with red- aproned staff in bow ties and waistcoats providing a smart service at tables decorated with attractive flower arrangements on white tablecloths. The four-course set evening menu might start with lobster cappuccino before a main dish of bass with couscous and orange-Dijon sauce; consider spoiling yourself with the generous set wine menu at 305kr per person. KKK Truffle Café & Restaurant, Vestergade 29-31, T 33131500. Sun 1130-1500 Mon-Sat and 1130-2200. Superb variety of food in a new, non-smoking restaurant, with sofa seats and chairs down the length of the stylish interior, and outdoor tables against a burnt-orange background. The 400kr-set meals for two in the café are almost half the price of those in the restaurant. Sushi with a Kirin in a tall glass is recommended; set wine menu adds 125kr to the bill. KKK-K Taj Indian Restaurant, Jernbanagad 3-5, T 33131010. 1200-2330. Silver chairs, statues of deities from the sub-continent, vast cluster of bangles hanging from the ceiling, not to mention Indian chefs, help make this a classic Indian rest- aurant (and the first in Denmark). Sixteen set menus from 195kr to a gargantuan feast at 595kr, no buffets, and old favourites like king prawns, chicken tikka and tandoori dishes. KK Brasserie N, Vesterbrogade 3 (Tivoli), T 33146003, http://www.nimb.dk 19 Apr-22 Sep 1200-2300, 15 Nov-22 Dec 1200-1430. Oriental glitz on the outside, busy Gallic brasserie inside, and an appealing international menu at night. Danish lunch with herrings or two or three choices from the smørrebrød menu will keep the bill below 150kr, while the evening set meal (with vegetarian option) for 315kr is good value compared to the à la carte choices. KK-K Leducation nationale, Larsbjørnstræde 12, T 33915360. 1200-1600, 1800-2230. Red-chequered tablecloths, a glimpse of Jean-Luc Godard amongst the myriad of posters, blackboard menu in French and Danish and, on Thursday nights, a two-piece jazz band squeezed into a corner. French-style food, of course, and an affordable set meal makes Leducation nationale a perennial favourite with Copenhageners. KK Mühlhausen Brasserie, Alexandra, HC Andersens Boulevard 8, T 33744466. 1130-2400. A café, bar and brasserie with an appreciative eye for Danish design Kaare Klint church choir chairs, Borge Mogensen sofas and PH chandeliers, and check the fittings in the washrooms. Southern European cuisine, popular with discerning Danes. KK Peder Oxe, Gråbrødretorv 11, T 33110077. 1130-0100. Hard to classify the cuisine, classy international/ Danish/ French, but the wide-ranging menu is full of interesting ideas and the characterful interior makes Peder Oxe an ideal restaurant for an evening out, especially with a wine bar in the vaulted cellars of this very old building. K Jensens Bøfhus, Gråbrødretorv 15, T 33327800. Mon-Thu, Sun 1100-2230, Fri-Sat 1100-2330. Set in an appealing pedestrianized square of much character. Steaks, burgers and eat-all-you-can meals of barbecued ribs with chips and coleslaw are not half bad. Outdoor tables too, good for coffee and cakes anytime. Other Jensens Bøfhus restaurants are in Kultorvet 15, and Vesterbrogade 11A. K RizRaz, Store Kannikestræde 19, T 33323345. 1130-2400. The second and newer RizRaz restaurant, occupying a 19th-century university building, has the identical budget-priced buffets and reasonably-priced drinks as the original . Of the four seating areas (plus pavement tables), the one behind the bar is the most attractive if making your visit an evening out.
