Exquisite Italian-Scandinavian cuisine on the 20th floor of the famous Jacobsen-designed hotel , using the cutlery that the architect designed and his legendary Syveren (The Seven) chair. Panoramic views of the city (reserve a table on the town hall side) and a sybaritic six-course menu for 695kr: starters like cappuccino of green peas with fjord shrimps and chanterelles and dishes like truffle risotto and sautéed lobster, or a choice of dishes can be chosen (from 365-645kr). Roses dress the tables, orange plants, the windows and all set off with soft blue colours. As lunch spots go, Flora Danica is hard to beat for a burger with smoked bacon and herb mayonnaise, steamed mussels in white wine, grilled chicken or duck breast and salad. After 1700, a dinner menu replaces the lunch one. If leaving for the airport from Central Station for an early evening flight, walk next door to the Plaza Hotel, deposit your luggage and linger over lunch in here. For late evening flights, drop into the hotels Library Bar for a last cocktail or two. KK Frascati, Vesterbrogade 9A, T 156690. 1000-2200. Crisp, white tablecloths and clean colours define what is probably the best little Italian restaurant in the city, next to the Grand hotel. Excellent selection of appetizers, grilled scampi from Greenland and many other fine choices from a menu of seasonal pasta, fish and meat dishes. Filled with natural greenery and a small pond, with above-average food if youre partial to roast beef with a sweet mustard sauce or pickled Baltic salmon, sliced and served from a trolley at the table. Service can be efficient to the point of briskness so ask to slow it down if necessary. KK Passagens Spisehus, Vestrbrogade 42, T 33224757. Mon 1800-2100, Tue-Thu 1800-2200, Fri-Sat 1700-2300. Slightly chilly Nordic decor, with some singular choices like wild musk from Greenland, reindeer, and moose on the menu. The starters roe of whitefish, dried cod, ray, Lapland carpaccio are excellent; affordable set meals from 255kr; good wines, friendly and knowledgeable service, and a neat line in cocktails. An old market, barn-like building, set menu (324kr) starts with a cocktail and three courses, or eat for less from the à la carte choices, while vegetarians could tuck into the buffet for under a 100kr. Situated opposite the Gay Centre shop, Ban-Gaw needs a facelift as regards its appearance and decor but the food has been recommended. King prawn vindaloo is 125kr. Not the only place to eat in the railway station for there are the usual schmuck franchises, but if you have a large appetite and want to eat Danish you could do worse than tuck into the eat-all-you-want buffet for 149kr.
