Nørrebro is an up-and-coming shopping area for clothes, including second-hand gear. The streets to check out are Blågårdsgade and Elmegade. Antiques are found in this neighbourhood, too, mainly along Ravnsborggade. Back in the city centre, Vestergade, Studiestræde and Larsbjørnstræde are three streets near Rådhuspladsen that have lots of gratifying little record and second-hand clothes shops, far more interesting than most of the retail outlets on Strøget, though Illum Bolighus, Holmegaard, Royal Copenhagen and Georg Jensen at the top end of Strøget should not be missed. Købmagergade, running off Strøget, has lots of familiar names (French Connection, Diesel, etc) though far more enticing is Kronprinsensgarde home to some of Denmarks top fashion designers. Some of the best shops for gifts and small decorative items are to be found in the citys museums and art galleries. The most interesting shops are those retailing Danish and Swedish designs in home furniture, interior decoration and kitchen products.
