Danes love soccer and the city has two professional clubs, Brøndby and FC København, that play throughout the year apart from a winter break covering December to mid-March. The two clubs are currently locked into a championship battle and if they are playing each other there is no chance of buying a ticket on the day. Every Sunday throughout July and August, football enthusiasts from Copenhagen and all over Europe compete in the Unity Cup at Fælled Park . Individuals and teams wishing to enter can show up on a Sunday or telephone (T 33224543) for further information.
Copenhagen has excellent sport facilities which visitors can avail themselves of and it takes little more than a phone call to confirm details. Jogging is very safe and very popular in the public parks and you are unlikely to find yourself the sole runner. Many of the better hotels have first-class sport and fitness facilities and the DGI-byens excels in this respect.
