Chancery Inn, Inns Quay, T 01 677 0420. Mon-Wed, Sun 1000-2300, Thu-Sat 1000-0030. An interesting, old-fashioned pub with good live traditional music nightly. Cobblestone, 77 North King St (entrance on Red Cow Lane), Smithfield, T 01 872 1799. Mon-Wed 1600-2330, Thu-Sat 1600-0030, Sun 1230-2330. Surrounded by soon-to-be demolished buildings, the Cobblestone looks as if it has been condemned, but this just makes the surprise of the interior all the more pleasant: a cosy, country-style pub with a great programme of live music, dominated by locals rather than tourists. Dice Bar, Queen St, T 01 872 8622. Mon-Wed 1030-2330, Thu-Sat 1030-0030, Sun 1030-2300. This Manhattan-esque joint in Smithfield comes complete with a bar counter taken from the Delano Beach Hotel in Miami. The cool, bare interior attracts a discerning clientele and there are DJs seven nights a week. Nancy Hands, 30-32 Parkgate St, T 01 677 0177. Mon-Wed 1230-2330, Thu-Sat 1230-0030, Sun 1230-2300. This faux Victorian pub has been assembled piece by reclaimed piece from the remnants of Welsh butchers shops, Yorkshire churches and Dublins own Trinity College. It has good food , some pleasant nooks, and, they say, 200 varieties of whiskey. Ryans, 22 Parkgate St, T 01 677 6097. Mon-Wed 1230-2330, Thu-Sat 1230-0030, Sun 1230-2300. This charming old pub looks so authentic that its hard to believe it wasnt purpose-built as a film set for some American movie about Ireland. In fact, its as genuine as they come, but if you do get a feeling of déjà vu, its because Ryans is regularly used in television programmes and adverts.
