Although car hire outlets are dotted all over Dublin, driving is not the most relaxing means of getting around the city centre. During the day parking is very limited, and movement across the city, even outside the rush hours, is slow. Once you escape the city limits, however, driving is a much less stressful experience. Parking is available in both multi-storey car parks (spaces are indicated on signboards around the city) or on the street by purchasing and displaying a ticket from roadside machines. Few hotels have their own car parks but some have allocated spaces in private car parks.
