Taxi Dublin

Dotted Line

Taxis were deregulated in Dublin in 2002. There are now far more cabs available, but this does not seem to have resulted in fare reductions. Taxi ranks in the city centre are situated at O’Connell Street Upper, St Stephen’s Green, Aston Quay and College Green as well as at Busáras and the railway stations. Licensed cabs run on a meter which starts at E2.75 and goes up by E0.20 for each ninth of a mile or 30-second period. There are additional charges for each extra passenger, for each piece of luggage, for a call out, for travelling on Sundays and for travelling after 2200 on other days. Unlicensed cabs tend to charge a flat fee to your destination, which should be negotiated in advance.
