This is the best way to see the city. By exploring on foot youll gain an insight into the citys layout and get a vibrant impression of Dublins street life; you may even make some new friends as you wait endlessly to cross the citys busy roads. Grafton Street, Henry Street and parts of Temple Bar are pedestrianized, but in the rest of the city youll have to negotiate heavy traffic with only some disorganized traffic signals to help you. Most of the major sights south of the river, including Dublin Castle, Trinity College, the cathedrals, the National Museum, Grafton Street and St Stephens Green, are 10-minutes walk or less from Temple Bar. Sights north of the river are mostly within five to 10-minutes walk of OConnell Street, although it takes rather longer to reach Smithfield. All but the most dedicated walkers will want to catch a bus to reach Phoenix Park, Kilmainham and sights further afield.
