Walk Macabre, T 087 677 1512, http://www.ghostwalk.cjb.com, runs daily tours focussing on the many horror writers who lived and wrote in Dublin. The tours start at 1930 from the main gates to St Stephens Green and last 1½ hours. Tickets (E7-9) must be booked in advance by phone or from Dublin Tourism. Starting from the pedestrian entrance to Dublin Castle on Dame Street, the Zozimus Ghostly Experience, T 01 661 8646, http://www.zozimus.com, leads visitors on a spooky walk around medieval Dublin. The tour lasts 1½ hrs and usually begins at 1900 in winter and at 2100 in summer, although times should be confirmed. Tickets for the tour cost E8 and advance booking is essential. Our favourite guided walk is the two-hour 1916 Rebellion Tour, T 01 676 2493, 1916@indigo.ie, which describes and analyzes the events that took place at the trouble hotspots during Easter 1916. The tour only runs between April and September, setting off from the International Bar on Wicklow Street at 1130 from Tuesday to Saturday and at 1230 on Sunday. Tickets cost E7. A comprehensive survey of Dublins history right up to the Good Friday peace process is provided on the Historical Walking Tour of Dublin, T 01 878 0227, http://www.historicalinsights.ie, which starts from the gates of Trinity College. There are two tours daily at 1100 and 1500 between May and September, and a single tour at 1200 on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from October to April. Tickets are E10 and you can pay on the day. For lots of drinking and reciting, plus a literary quiz, join the Literary Pub Crawl, T 01 670 5602, http://www.dublinpubcrawl.com, which kicks off from the Duke pub on Duke Street. The crawl takes place at 1930 Monday to Saturday and at 1200 and 1930 on Sunday from Easter to the end of October, and at 1930 Thursday to Saturday in winter. It lasts 2½ hours and costs E7.90 per person.
