There are, of course, a thousand other things to do in this fine city. There's the small matter of Edinburgh Castle, from where the Royal Mile – 1,984 cobbled yards of dark, sinister history – leads downhill to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. And then there’s all that wonder- ful architecture. You could spend a few days just wandering round the New Town ogling all those gorgeous neoclassical buildings. Start in Charlotte Square and head north into the splendour of Moray Place for a taste of what’s on offer.
