Those who need to escape even this most open of urban centres can rest easily in the knowledge that there are wild and rugged hills lying just beyond the southern limits. The Pentlands also offer horse riding and mountain biking opportunities and even a dry ski slope. Closer to home, Arthurs Seat is enough to get most peoples pulses racing. Less active souls can don Pringle sweater and dodgy slacks and enjoy some of the best golf available anywhere along the stretch of East Lothian coast. Adrenaline junkies wont be disappointed either. Just to the west of the city is the brand new Adventure Centre, the most advanced and well-equipped rock climbing facility in the world. Edinburgh is the home of Scottish rugby. The national side play at Murrayfield Stadium in the west of the city and anyone with a penchant for major sporting events should try to find a ticket when Scotland play a Six Nations match or host a touring side from the southern hemisphere.
