Glasgow comes alive after dark with a buzzing nightlife culture, from live music and bars to cafés and clubs. Glasgow definitely has something for everyone, whether it's hands-in-the-air dancing, checking out some new bands or catching one of the big names on their world tour.
The city is bursting at the seams with bars, many of which are excellent pre-club venues to get you in the mood for a nights clubbing. The DJ sets normally start at 2100 and carry on until 2400 but some start earlier depending on the DJs. Entry is normally free, with some charging after 2300. Clubbers of all tastes and styles are catered for, with some of the UK's biggest and best club nights.
There are also many places to hear live music and with so many venues to play in, its no surprise that Glasgow has produced a mass of excellent bands. The biggest names over the years have included Travis and Texas as well as smaller indie bands such as Belle & Sebastian and Teenage Fanclub, to name just a few.
Club opening times are pretty much the same all over, with doors opening from 2300 until 0300. Entry costs can vary from £2-5 for the smaller venues, and £5-10 for the bigger venues, while you can pay up to £20 from some of the special club nights with top class DJs.
The bars are open from around 1100-2300 during the week and 1100-2400 on Friday and Saturday, with music-only venues normally opening around 1900 before support bands come on.
