There are ferry services to the west coast of Scotland from Northern Ireland. P&O Irish Sea (T 0870-2424777, http://www.poirishsea.com), has several crossings daily to Cairnryan from Larne. The journey takes 1 hour. Stena Line (T 0870-707070, http://www.stenaline.co.uk), run numerous ferries (3 hours) and high-speed catamarans (1½ hours) from Belfast to Stranraer. Seacat Scotland (T 08705-523523, http://www.seacat.co.uk) run daily services from Belfast to Troon (2½ hours). There are several trains daily from Stranraer to Glasgow Central (2¼ hours) and regular services from Troon (45 minutes).
