Generally speaking, the cheapest and quickest way to travel to Glasgow from outside the UK is by air. There are daily direct flights to Glasgow from airports in London, as well as from provincial UK airports, Ireland, Europe and North America. Road links to Scotland are excellent, and a number of companies offer express coach services day and night. This is the cheapest form of travel to Glasgow from other parts of the UK. There are fast and frequent rail services to and from London Euston (5 hours). There are also daily services to Birmingham (4 hours) and Manchester (3½ hours) and other main towns and cities in England. The best way to explore the city centre sights is by walking, although some of the hills are very steep. If you want to explore the West End or South Side, you'll need to use the public transport system, which is generally good and efficient. It tends to be reasonably priced and there are a number of discount passes you can buy that can save you money.
