If you have an extra couple of days in the city, add to the above with day on Lantau, starting with a climb up the Big Buddha followed by a vegetarian lunch at the monastery. Take the bus or taxi to Tai O and explore the old fishing village, then end the day on Cheung Sha beach and dine while gazing at the sea. Start the next morning with a tai chi lesson by Tsim Sha Tsuis Cultural Centre, then visit the Hong Kong Story exhibition in the Museum of History. Walk up Nathan Roads Golden Mile and swim in the outdoor pool in Kowloon Park. Meander between Yuen Po Street Bird Garden, the Flower and Goldfish Markets in Mongkok, then have tea in Peninsula Hotel or brave the grubby Chungking Mansions for a cheap (and tasty) Indian meal. Alternatively, take a walk around Centrals architectural stunners, then through the Chinese medicine trading areas of Sheung Wan. Board the top deck of a tram to Causeway Bay and, if its a Wednesday, have a flutter at Happy Valley Racecourse.
