Golf is hugely popular but expensive. Non-members can usually use private clubs during weekdays, sometimes daytime only. Hong Kong is the venue for prestigious international tournaments like the Omega Hong Kong Open (late Nov/early Dec). Because of the high prices of playing, many locals hop over the border into China, which offers great golfing at a fraction of the price, especially at Missions Hill in Shenzen, where Tiger Woods has played. Hong Kongs only public golf club has four courses, one of which is championship, so the standard and facilities here are excellent. The only golf course in Macau, this rather exclusive club is open to non-members provided they are staying in certain hotels.
