Carnival (Feb 1-4 2004) Lisbons Carnival celebrations have a distinctly Brazilian feel. Streets are jammed with people of all ages flamboyantly dressed and dancing to samba. Celebrations peak with the Entrudo on the final day, with colourful parades of floats and street artists. As well as the traditional celebrations and medieval atmosphere of Alfama and Baixa, a good place to head for more a more modern perspective is Parque das Nações. Drinks are free flowing and there are plenty of stalls selling regional delicacies. Events are free and festivities continue into the early hours.
