Dotted Line

The fine white sand, sheltered coves and large breaks of Guincho beach make it ideal for surfing. Surfing championships are held in August. Waves generally range from 1-3 m but beware the under- current. Even more popular is Ericeira beach, north of Lisbon, or Costa Caparica. With constant winds in the region of Force 3 to 5, windsurfing is popular at Carcavelos and Cascais.

Clube Naval de Cascais, Esplanada Príncipe Dom Luís Felipe, T 21 483 01 25. Closed Tue. Runs the gamut of nautical sports including sailing, motor boats for rent, water skiing and harpooning.
