A week gives you time to explore further afield. To the north, Hampstead, with its breezy heath and village atmosphere is worth an afternoon and evening. To the south, the Dulwich Picture Gallery amply rewards the effort required to reach it. Return via Brixton for a taste of south Londons most fashionable clubs and bars. For anyone interested in history, the City of London repays more leisurely exploration: especially the Museum of London and Guildhall. And then theres the East End, still London at its most authentic and difficult, dotted with treats like Spitalfields, the Geffrye Museum and Bethnal Green Museum of Childhood.
