Mass, St Matthews Church, Brixton Hill, T 020-7738 5255. Open till 0600 Fri and Sat. Above the Bug Bar, this dark and dingy converted church is renowned for its weekend hard house nights. Despite the mammoth exterior it can appear deceptively small and fills up quickly after midnight.

The Ministry Of Sound, 103 Gaunt St, just south of the river Thames in London’s Elephant and Castle district, T 020-7740 8600. Fri 1000-0700, Sat 1200-0900. One of London’s biggest and most famous nightclubs, The Ministry was Britain’s first ever purpose-built ‘super club’ and has built itself into a multinational business and the biggest dance brand name in the world.The club itself remains as popular as ever.
