Across the street is Fiestas Paco with everything you need for a party, from hats and streamers to paper plates. Casa Mira, C San Jerónimo 30. Metro Sol. Lovely, old-fashioned baker which sells all kinds of goodies, displayed on a revolving glass stand. Its the place to buy turrón, a delicious honey-flavoured soft nougat, which is traditionally eaten around Christmas. La Mallorquina, Puerta del Sol 2. Metro Sol. Classic old pastry shop on the Puerta del Sol with incredibly low prices. Mantequerías González, C León 12. Metro Antón Martín. Fabulous range of gourmet deli items and you can sample them in the pleasant little bar area at the back. Wine, olive oil, luxurious tins and jars of anchovies and other delicacies, which make good presents, and a great range of cheeses and cured meats. Very friendly staff. Mariano Madrueño, C Postigo San Martín. Metro Callao. Charming, century-old wine sellers with an excellent range of Spanish wines as well as some interesting regional liqueurs. El Palacio de los Quesos, C Mayor 53. Metro Sol or Opera. The Palace of Cheeses contains a dazzling display of cheeses from all over Spain, from the delicate Galician tetilla to classic manchego.
