Dotted Line

Madrid’s metro system is clean, safe, efficient and easy to use. Each of the 10 lines is colour-coded and numbered and you just need to know the final destination of your train to ensure you are going in the right direction. There are signs and maps everywhere. The metro is to be avoided during the rush hour, around 0800-0900 and in the evening from about 1800-2000, and during the height of summer when it gets hot and stuffy. The metro runs from about 0630 until 0100. Free metro plans are available at tourist offices, at metro stations, or online at http://www.ctm-madrid.es A single metro journey costs e0.95, or you can buy a Metrobús ticket from stations and tobacconists (estancos) for e5, valid for 10 journeys on buses or metro.
