From London and Paris, there are direct scheduled flights to Marrakech. There are also frequent scheduled and charter flights from Europe, Canada, the Middle East and West Africa to Casablanca with connecting flights to Marrakech. Otherwise take the train (nearly 3 hours) or CTM bus. It is also possible to travel to Morocco from France (Sète) and Spain (Algeciras, Almería) by ferry. Most travellers find the Algeciras to Tangiers (or Ceuta) crossing most practical. There is a rail link from Tangiers to Marrakech via Casablanca. Marrakech is a compact, flat city. From the heart of the médina (old town) to Guéliz it is a 40-minute walk or 10 minutes in a petit taxi. There are regular bus services on this route. If you are staying in the Palmeraie, a taxi or a bicycle will be necessary to get to the médina. Destinations in the High Altas region south of Marrakech are best reached by share-taxi (usually a big Mercedes). There is a good bus service to Essaouira. All the Atlantic coast destinations covered here (Essaouira, Safi and Oualidia) can be reached by share-taxi.
