RR Le Jardin des Arts, 6/7 Rue Sakia el Hamra, T 044-446634. Near the Hotel Amine and Café le Diamant Vert. In Semlalia rather than Guéliz (so youll need to take a cab) but included here for convenience. A newish French restaurant that fills the gap in the Semlalia hotel zone. Said to be really quite good although some reports say its overpriced. RR Odissea, 83 bis Blvd Mansour Eddahbi, T 044-431545. To get there, coming from the médina on Av Mohammed V, locate the main RAM agency and Wafa Bank. Go left, and left again. Odissea is a few metres down on your right. The decor of this Italian-run restaurant is molto Versace, with impeccable waistcoated waiters and giant paintings of leopards. Serves excellent pizzas. Pizza and wine for 2 will work out at about 200dh. RR Pizzeria Niagara, route de Targa (take a taxi), near the Petit Marché, T 044-449775. Reservations essential. Good pizzas. Covered terrace. Gets crowded in the evenings with chic locals. Recommended. RR Rotisserie du Café de la Paix, 68 Rue Yougoslavie, T 044- 433118. Reasonable grilled food all the year round. And theres a garden in the summer. RR Restaurant Bagatelle, 101 Rue Yougoslavie, just opposite the Rotisserie de la Paix, T 044-430274. 1200-1400 and 1900-2300. Closed on Wed. Is to French food in Marrakech what Catanzaro is to Italian. Solid Gallic offerings served in the restaurant and vine-shaded courtyard. Decor 1940s kitsch with 1970s touches. Waiters like ageing bodyguards serve Inspecteur Maigret types coming in for a pleasant lunch (siesta required afterwards). Try the salade fermier or the terrine de faisan au porc. Recommended good lunch for around 100dh, the full whack for 200dh. RR Tivoli, Route de Casablanca, T 044-313528. Out on the Casablanca road a short taxi hop from the new town turn left just before you get to the Marjane Hypermarket if coming from Guéliz. Lunchtimes and evenings, closed Sun. The decor is no great shakes, but local foreign residents rate the Italian cooking (anything for a change from tajine). Menu changes daily. R Chez Bel Guéni, and other no-name barbecue restaurants, go right at the top of Av Mohammed V, and heading along Av Khattabi, away from the Shell station, after the Hotel Les Ambassadeurs, youll find a handful of lively grillade places. Worth discovering on a second trip to Marrakech. R Café Agdal, 86 Av Mohammed V, T 044-448707. Perfectly serviceable place with pavement terrace, close to Rond-Point Abd el Moumen, next to Hotel Moutamid. All basic meals, good breakfast (buy the papers at nearby news kiosk). R Tiffany, under the arcade on Av Mohammed V, near the post office. Basic meals and breakfasts, good service, stays open during the day in Ramadan.
