The sprawling drama that is the Mercato di Porta Nolana is hard to beat. A slightly less eclectic combination (mainly food) can be found every morning at La Pignasecca, on and around via Pignasecca, off via Toledo. The daily Mercato dei Fiori (flower market) takes place at dawn on the east side of Castel Nuovo. It’s likely to be over before you’ve finished breakfast so make a big effort. Naples’ antiques market, Fiera Antiquaria Napoletana, usually takes place on the last two Saturdays of the month in the Villa Comunale in Chiaia, 0800-1400, though it’s less frequent in summer.
