Walk by a sports bar on nearly any night of the week and you’re sure to see either a baseball, football or basketball game on TV. You are also likely to notice New Yorkers sporting jerseys, hats and T-shirts that proclaim their allegiance to the Yankees or the Mets (baseball), the Knicks (basketball), or the Jets and Giants (football).
New Yorkers are known for being constantly on the go, so it’s no surprise that they take great pride in keeping fit. In fact, the first question a New Yorker may ask a new acquaintance is “which gym do you belong to?” When they’re not at the gym, the city’s sporty types can be found jogging, cycling and roller-blading around Central Park or along the recently rejuvenated Hudson River Park on Manhattan’s western border.
