Every season in New York is accompanied by new attractions. Although New Yorks temperatures range from frigidly cold to brutally humid, the sun tends to poke out more often than not and the weather shouldnt hold back your plans. With the freezing December temperatures arrive the holiday lights and spectacular window displays in the citys department stores, while the summer heat brings with it some of New Yorks best street entertainment and sidewalk dining. The ideal times to visit temperature-wise, though, are probably the spring, from March until May, and again in the autumn, with warm Indian summer nights often lasting until mid-November. Bear in mind, however, that the weather can vary drastically from year to year. New York, believe it or not, does get quieter at weekends during the summer, when many city dwellers clear out for beach homes or upstate retreats. Although this is the city that never sleeps, many shops and sights close earlier on a Sunday and most museums are closed for one day a week.
