Café Cheri(e), 44 blvd de la Villette, 75019, T 01 42 02 07 87. Mon-Thu 1700-0200, Fri-Sun 0800-0200 (sometimes until 0600). M Belleville. Once just another Arab hangout among so many others in Belleville, the Cheri(e) has transformed itself into one of the quartiers latest, must-do bars. The red lighting, cheesy posters and reasonable prices make it an ideal drinking spot, and the frequent DJ nights mean its possible to make a long night of it here. Les Cimes, 105 rue Oberkampf, 75011, T 01 43 57 34 10. Mon-Sun 0830-0200. M Parmentier, St Maur. Next door to the Charbon, Les Cimes soaks up the overspill. Sit at the bar or in a booth and bask in the pink neon glow. Le Panier, place Saint Marthe, 75020, T 01 42 01 38 18. Summer Mon-Sun 1000-0200, winter Mon-Sat 1600-0200, Sun 1200-0200. M Belleville. A low-key establishment with a backroom reminiscent of a student sitting room: candles in pewter goblets, walls painted different colours and a mish-mashed decor. The menu is good, with a couple of vegetarian dishes. There is a tempting choice of flavoured rums and non-alcoholic juices and teas. Try the sweet hibiscus (hot or cold). Lou Pascalou, 14 rue des Panoyaux, 75020, T 01 46 36 78 10. Mon-Sun 0930-0200. M Ménilmontant. One of Pariss best local bars: friendly, relaxed, unpretentious, well priced and, an infallible sign, full of regulars. There are occasionally concerts and magic shows in the evening. The good restaurant opposite La Boulangerie is owned by the same family. Le Soleil, 136 rue de Ménilmontant, 75020, T 01 46 36 47 44. Mon-Sun 0900-0130. M Ménilmontant. Cheap and cheerful local bar that comes into its own in the summer, when young and beautiful locals fight over the tables outside. If you miss out on the terrace, dont bother going inside.
