The public transport system (the RATP) in Paris and its suburbs is for the most part efficient and reliable. It comprises the following: metro, bus, the RER railway and the SNCF railway. The SNCF links the regions and suburbs to mainline stations in Paris, while the RER interconnects with the metro system and some SNCF train lines. There are five RER lines (A, B, C, D and E).
