Prices are way off the scale for most from 610 but what French designer Jacques Garcia has produced in terms of the classy decor deserves a mention. Garcias defining principle of design is to work with the natural tendency of a room or space. Thus a small room should be filled, a large room emptied, a room with no natural light made sombre and a room with plenty of light made even lighter. The inner terrace is a flurry of verandas, galleries, balustrades and statuary. There is a magnificent pool, and a Chinese salon brought to life by mirrors and splashes of lacquer. Rooms are luxurious, but not intimidating, decorated with hints of Orientalism, such as cedar furnishings inset with mother-of-pearl.
