If walking between sights and up and down the citys famous monuments is not enough exercise, then why not do as the Parisians do, and acquire a bicycle or set of blades? Seeing the city on wheels gives visitors a different perspective, and is a good opportunity for jawing with the locals. Otherwise, Paris is well catered for with good swimming pools, and less so with gyms. Many foreigners find Paris gyms ridiculously small and cramped, but then, the vast majority of gyms in the city centre are not found in state-of-the-art, purpose-built complexes. Most swimming pools, and definitely all of the state pools, have a strict policy of what swimmers can and cant wear. Briefs are a must for the men, and swimming caps for everyone. If you dont have the necessaries, dont fear, there are machines in the swimming pool receptions. If this sounds a little conventional, how about a hammam, or ice-skating at the town hall?
