Icelands lakes and rivers are populated with trout and salmon. The fishing season runs from April to September and you need a permit to fish in most rivers. Salmon fishing needs to be booked long in advance but trout-fishing permits are available at short notice. Prices are dependent on where youre fishing, the yield and the time of year. Trout fishing costs around ISK 1000 per day depending on the season and equipment can be hired from fishing shops.
