Old timber house from the turn of the century housing an exclusive, classy restaurant. Skólabrú is very tasteful and serves gourmet food, ranging from flambéed lobster tails to champagne sorbets, and specializing in fish and international cuisine. Attracts an older clientele. KKK Sticks 'n' Sushi, Aðalstræti 12, T 511 4440. Daily from 1130. Part of a Scandinavian chain, an elegant Japanese restaurant in a high-ceilinged wooden house in the oldest part of town. With a prime location down towards the pond, this is another specialist seafood restaurant but this time with a French twist. They have a particularly large selection of wines and a daily specials menu starting from ISK 3100 in an intimate historic restaurant. KKK Þrir Frakkar, Baldursgata 14, T 552 3939. Mon-Thu 1100- 2300, Sat-Sun 1800-2330. Icelandic seafood restaurant specializing in whale meat. The name is an Icelandic play on words, meaning both three Frenchmen and three trenchcoats. Oriental restaurant serving a wide array of Chinese-style fish, prawn, beef and chicken dishes in a large restaurant on the main shopping street. Lunch is a bargain ISK 950 for three courses and you can expect to pay about ISK 1400 for dinner. KK Café Victor, Hafnarstræti 1-3, T 561 9555. Daily from 1100. Casual bistro-bar serving Mediterranean food, sandwiches for under ISK 1000 and a small tourist menu. Soup of the day with a fish main course costs around ISK 1790. Its also a nice place to stop for coffee.
