EE Monriot, C Don Remondo 1, T 954 211 731. Tue-Sun 1100- 2400. A likeable restaurant in the quiet backstreets near the cathedral. The interior features attractive brick walls and bishops mitre seats as well as some Arabic lettering here and there. The chefs not afraid to experiment a little on Andalucían themes and the various stew-type dishes here are toothsome. EE Robles Placentines, C Placentines 2, T 954 213 162. 1200-0130. Poor service lets down this attractive restaurant which has lovely outdoor tables. Notwithstanding, they do some decent fish dishes and the wine selection is good. At the bar, try the brochetas de pescado (fish kebabs) or the slightly strange smoked salmon in a sweet sauce. EEE La Albahaca, Pl Santa Cruz 12, T 954 220 714. Mon-Sat 1200-1600, 2000-2400. Set in a lovely mansion, this is one of the citys finest restaurants. Theres a fine little terrace, but the interior is also attractive, with replica paintings and comme-il-faut service. The foods classy with a distinct French influence. Dishes worthy of the surrounds include oysters au gratin with dill and cava, pheasant salad or wild boar well matched with a fig and orange compôte. EE Corral del Agua, Cjón del Agua 6, T 954 220 714. Mon-Sat 1200-1600, 2000-2400. A top spot to escape the narrow streets, this restaurant is lucky enough to have an enclosed terrace right by the Almohad walls. Its touristy, but classy, and serves up great Seville specialities like huevos a la flamenca as well as several fine salmon options. EE Coello, C Doncellas 8. This elegant, backstreet restaurant doesnt seem to pull many tourists in, but theres no reason why not. The furnishing is light and stylish and theres a very attractive terrace. The food is freshly prepared and includes good fish and meat dishes and tasty salads and sangria. Theres a menú del día for E 9.10 which is very good value. EEE Egaña Oriza, C San Fernando 41, T 954 227 211.1330-1600, 2100-2400. A smart restaurant with a noted chef who blends Andalucían cuisine with his native Basque styles. The pavilion-style room has attractive and comfortable white furniture; things that are done particularly well are salmorejo, stewed wood- pigeon, sole with saffron sauce and a great ceviche of monkfish and grouper. Theres also a tapas bar which is pijo but has some tasty salads and canapés. EE As-Sawirah, C Galera 5, T 954 562 268. 1200-1600, 2100- 2400. A stylish Moroccan restaurant in a hidden backstreet. Good service and a small but authentic range of high-quality cuisine, including tajines, cous-cous, and an excellent Berber salad with goats cheese. EE El Buzo, C Antonia Díaz 5, T 954 210 231. 1100-0100, Fri-Sat 1100 -0200. A busy and happy restaurant, decorated with pictures of bullfighters and hanging lamps. The raciones are excellent; particularly the solomillo al whisky. EE Restaurante Puerta Grande, C Antonia Díaz 33, T 954 216 843. Opposite the bullring, this smart eatery is predictably decorated with trajes de luz (matadors suits). Theres good dining to be done here; the solomillo is a house specialty, theres a variety of seafood, and the revueltos are also excellent.
